Last Friday, Austin and I were invited by a friend to go to a "prophet's" house. We both first pushed off the idea all together. We both prayed and heard the Lord say go, and so we went. When we arrived there, we were greeted by smiles and handshakes. They were going to watch the latest IHOP (international house of prayer) posting or sermon(for lack of better words) and they were excited about it. Before the show started, Austin and I began to talk with them about Godly things such as the times that we are in and the holy spirit. Everything that the man had said bared witness in our spirits because it was truth. However, we would soon after find out that the man was far from truth, wasn't baptized in the Holy Spirit, and after Austin asked God later on, we found out the man didn't even have salvation.
How could this be? The man was saying truth, and professing his love for God and his mighty works. Can bitter and sweet water flow from the same well? The answer is no. After the IHOP show started up, the people in the room began to pray and worship as the people on the computer screen prayed and worship. The man("prophet") began to speak in false tongues, and started to put on what seemed like a show of praise and worship. It seemed rehearsed.
After they saw that Austin and I were not as happy and enthusiastic about the show, (we weren't partaking in the show, but we sat backed and prayed) the "prophet" asked us if we were offended. Austin and I told him that we weren't offended, but that we didn't particularly like the IHOP show and music because it seemed much like a modern day concert, rather than a movement for God. I'm not saying that all at the concert was wrong, but the show itself was not pleasing to me, nor do I think that it was pleasing to God.
Now, people might ask how could I say that not being there, and the answer is simple. I know God, and I asked him. God is not a god that needs a lazer light show, bass thumping music, and screaming to "help." Since when is the Holy Spirit not enough? I'm not saying that music is bad or that a loud hallelujah, or praise is prohibited, I'm just saying that God is not a god that works in emotion, but he is the God who speaks in our spirits in a still small voice. He is the God that we can hear when we die to ourselves, and put away all the commotion of the world. Its not the other way around. To hear God, we don't need loud music, we don't need to jump up and down to a beat. In fact, a person will never consciously hear God's voice unless he/she waits patiently, and humbles themselves before the Lord.
After talking back and forth for a while with the "prophet" and another lady, Austin and I both felt that we wanted to wrap it up and leave because they were set in their ways. They tried to argue with us about how God works with magic gold dust, precious gems, and golden fillings for people's teeth. If God is going to heal, would he heal you by using men's products, or by giving you a new tooth? They also try to argue about many things including, how the spirit of God is emotional, and how people have different tastes and so they enter in using different ways. He then said that he knew he had leaven in him, and then tried to make it seem like it was ok because we all have leaven in us and it takes time to work it out. We then explained that if you know there is something wrong with you, you have to fix it. God is calling us to be perfect and cleansed in every way because it is so important because of the times we are in. The "prophet" then told us that we were young, and told us that we had a rough road ahead of us because he has been a Christian for many many years and tried to say that the path of God was a hard one to walk. It is if you don't love truth more than this world. We left soon after that. Austin and I are young, but age doesn't matter. Truth is truth and whoever is willing to believe truth and hate the lie can be a son or daughter of God and move according to his will.
Understanding and Lesson Learned- We have to love truth more than the lie. We have to stay humble and allow God to teach us all things through his spirit. The "prophet" learned all that he did not from God, but by men's teachings and on his own. He didn't understand the things of the spirit, nor did the women there because they did not have the spirit of God, and they did not know God. Like the parable Jesus spoke, about the men that did all that was required of them(physically) but they did not love Christ. They did them all for themselves and their glory and not because they had a heart towards God. Like many Christians today, they knew the watered-down version of God. The one that says that God is different than he was thousands of years ago. The version that says when you worship, you don't have to worship in spirit and in truth, but in emotion. The version that says that when we learn of God, we have to learn through men's teachings and what they think they know of God.
The reason God wanted us to go to that "prophet's" house wasn't for his sake, but for our friend that invited us to go. He loves truth, but lacks discernment. He has had the water-downed version of God. God loves him because he loves truth and and was seeking for what God would want for him in his life, and not what he, or another would tell him to be true. He hasn't called back yet, but I know that now he knows the difference and I hope and pray he chooses truth, and not the lie.
In closing, (I apologize because of the length) God wants us to seek him and him alone. His will has to be our number one priority in our life. We have to love truth, and hate the lie. We need to learn everything through his Holy Spirit and in order to learn like that, we must stay humble. This kind of people, those that have their own misconception of what God and truth really is, is what we are going to start running across all the time. That is if you haven't started already.

Thanks Chad, listen my best friends son is in kansas city at that ihop place interning...i needed to know all that you shared, I have always felt iffy about the place, but since i have never been there, only met people from there, it was hard to put my finger on just exactly was amiss with it all. My friends son is a young man very hungry for God, so please pray that God will lead him out of the deception, his name is Nick.
A person can't be taught to become a prophet, a prophet is someone who is anointed by God Almighty and appointed by Him for that office. I know that ihop is a place that teaches people to do that am I right? It seems that there are a lot of people going around calling themselves prophets these days. If they new in truth the office of the prophet they would not be so eager to take on the calling, as it takes major and complete death to self, and submission to God Almighty, the Most High God. Everyone wants to be the head and no one wants to be the servant. I am so proud of you young men in The Lord, keep the Faith young brothers and keep perservering, God Bless You.
Chad,
I thank God that you did what the Lord told you to do. As you know, our lives lived before God is the greatest witness to those who are weak or without. Our prayers should be for those who have been held back, but do desire the truth.
God bless you for your obedience. It means more to the Father than you may know.
God bless,
Ryan
I would like to add that all that were present Sunday were blessed by this testimony. I am blessed to have fellowship with these young men who stood up for truth and righteousness. Blessed by the fact that they have ears to hear. They rightly discerned good and evil. Many cannot. Many would not speak truth for fear of persecution. Many would merely go with the flow. They are a light in the darkness. They did not allow "that woman Jezebel, which calls herself a prophet, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication" (Rev 2).

P.S.
Even the seven Asian churches that John wrote to, that received the Revelation of Jesus, and shown what was to come, are subject to this: 2 Corinthians 6:14Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. 18And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
And again: 1 Corinthians 2:10But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.
Knowing the difference, is the difference.

Amen, Dave.
I, too, am blessed and honored to know these people in the Lord. It is amazing what the Lord will do when people do live lives of obedience to Him.
I am sure it is people just like this that God is preparing to stand in the days to come. If we just hold on to truth and love God more than anything else in this life (and realize that without Jesus, we would be dead men walking), He will continue to make a way for us to be used by His Spirit.
God bless,
Ryan
