Lord, Lord!

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Luke 9: 25For what is a man advantaged, if he (a man) gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

2 Thessalonians 3:13 But you, (my) brethren, be not weary in well doing. 14And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.

Who will say; Lord, Lord?

1.) 1 John 4:6 We are of God: he that knows God hears us; he that is not of God hears not us. Hereby we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

“We know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.” Big words! Do you know what it means? Can you receive it? Can you believe it? Does God give such understanding to men? Tell religious people that God gave it to you and watch the anger build. Contrary to their understanding it is not a statement of pride, but a partial acknowledgement of who and what the Holy Spirit is and does. The Holy Spirit bears witness of truth (God gets the glory not any man, He knows the truth, we just hear by faith). It is how a Spirit filled person in truth (biblical evidence), having their senses exercised to discern both good and evil (Heb 5:14), is able know what is right or wrong, spirit or flesh.

John 14:10 Believe thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwells in me, he doeth the works. 11Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. 12Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. 15If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but ye know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you. 18I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

2.) John 3:10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Are you a master of Israel (teacher of Christian doctrine and faith), and do not know these things? 11Verily, verily (truly, truly), I say to you, We (those who have received the Holy Spirit in truth) speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and you receive not our witness. 12If I have told you earthly things, and you believe not, how shall you believe, if I tell you of heavenly (spiritual) things?

James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

To the carnal mind faith doesn’t make any sense. You can’t calculate, measure, hold, touch or feel faith, but it is evident by our speech and actions. True faith is no more than believing God, taking Him at His word. At which point faith becomes tangible, a substance, a possession, something you can rely on. Many will say they have faith and believe; faith for salvation, wisdom, guidance and eternal hope. Yet, ask them about the Holy Spirit and most will say they have Him. Ask by what evidence and they will give dozens of good reasons, all will be descriptive of the Holy Spirit without personal knowledge or “in truth”. Try to hold them to scriptures about the evidence and they waffle or explain it away. They have built on their own beliefs, not truth, nothing that will remain.

In a certain way truth/faith can seem arrogant to the carnal Christian. There is no wiggle room, no space for everyone to be right, not realizing that the truth is from God, they seek to war against the messenger. Just as light dispels darkness, truth held against error or lies, breaks the strength of the deception. Truth should set us free, that is unless they love the lie more, which many do. Enter in the Pharisee. The religious one, who refuses to be open to truth, a carnal man or woman of logic who loves to debate and to be right in his own mind, yet unable or unwilling to measure themselves by the very scriptures they claim to love. Hears of the word, not doers.

3.) 1 Corinthians 2:1…Brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2For I determined (decided) not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified (Your fleshly thoughts do not matter). 3And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling (I spoke and acted at your level of faith.). 4And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom (Christian education), but (By faith) in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men (Dedication to learning), but in the power of God. 6Howbeit we speak wisdom among them (those who received the Spirit of truth) that are perfect (those who have received the Spirit and by faith hear and walk by the Spirit): yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought (eternal death): 7But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory (hidden from all except those who by belief actually receive): 8Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11For what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knows no man, but the Spirit of God. 12Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Ghost teaches; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15But he that is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.

John 7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

“God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit.”, “The Holy Ghost teaches; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” "He shall know of the doctrine." If we do not accept Godly spiritual concepts, truths and understandings we have no basis for comparison, nothing to build on, to God, no faith. I’m am not talking about scripture memorization, this or that school of thought, some denominations theological position or “great” tenants of faith as some consider them. I speak of God given understandings of the reality of what we see and do. If you don’t have faith to speak in tongues do you think that God would trust you to give a prophecy? Would you think that God has another “way”? God is not confused, man is. God didn’t give multiple choices as denominations, or different paths, as some would have us to believe, but we were instructed to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, lead by the Holy Spirit into all truth. God did say that He would send the Comforter, the Holy Spirit to lead us, lead each and every one of us that ask, into all truth. “God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit”. Reveal truth, dieing to our own understanding till we have the “Mind of Christ”.

4.) 1 Corinthians 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

Luke 5:39 No man also having drunk old wine straightway desires new: for he says, the old is better.

Luke 10:24 For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

Isaiah 28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. 12To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

The plain simple truth is that men defend their ignorance of truth. They compare themselves to themselves. They say everyone has their own opinion (which as you read will say that I do as well) and they would be correct, the problem is that God has a “way”. Not my way, His way, and few find it. The only way to know things to come is by the Holy Spirit of the living God. The only way to receive the Holy Spirit is by faith, humbling yourself, trusting and believing that God is able to do what He said He would. That is faith. Clearly one half of all who are separate to God do not have ears to hear. The obviously wrong are deceived even now, they have no chance and most likely will “fall away” or perish in judgment, not even close. Harsh words but true. Does this offend? Why would it offend? It’s true! (Matthew 11:6And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me). Does it surprise that God reveals such things to a man, that is, to know who is of God and who is not. God knows.

John 16:1These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. 2They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever kills you will think that he doeth God service. 3And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me. 4But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you. 5But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you ask me, Where are you going? 6But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. 7Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. 12I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. 14He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you. 15All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you.

Would you have God not fulfill His word or be wrong? Would you have confusion? God forbid! Let God be true, but every man a liar. (Rom. 3:4)

5.) Believing that Jesus was and is, is not the issue. The devil believes. It’s believing the spiritual side of life, not that it exists, but believing and receiving by faith, that allows us to enter in to the things of God, the Holy of Holies, the presence of the Holy Spirit, the “Mind of Christ”. This “is” doing the will of God, to receive the gifts of God, His promise, to not think it robbery but accept that we by the blood of Jesus were made worthy. We believe according to the frame of His word, measured and held straight to the word by the Holy Spirit. This is being lead by peace, the peace that passes understanding, past understanding because it is spirit.

Romans 8:7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Isaiah 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: 11For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. 12To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

Romans 9:31 But Israel (or powerless carnally minded Christians), which followed after the law of righteousness (works), hath not attained to the law of righteousness. 32Wherefore (Why)? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law (custom, tradition and mans educated best understanding). For they stumbled at that stumbling stone (faith); 33As it is written, Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 25:11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

True words, Dave and exactly the situation I had with a man who thought himself more religious than I was. Unfortunately, he was not aware that I wanted nothing to do with his religion and that we choose the liberty that the Spirit brings over laws of men any day.

Thanks for sharing this. It is amazing, and faithful, of God to confirm His words time and time again.

God bless,
Ryan
